This large lighted church cross sign is made of stainless steel and is the first and only one we have ever seen. It was most likely made as a sign for a church or a chapel. Originally there would have been glass or Lucite on the inside front, that would allow the light to shine through. We chose to leave the cross open, exposing the porcelain light sockets and the clear light bulbs.
The condition of the cross is extremely nice with the only update being the wiring and the replacement of the wood that held the porcelain light sockets inside the cross. The exterior of the stainless steel was left as found and shows normal wear and patina as seen in the photos. Since this is stainless steel, the surface can be cleaned and polished to look new if one desires. Vintage lighted crosses are hard to find, especially one made of stainless steel.
