This Nik Puspurica circus painting is based on the artist memory regarding an early traveling circus. The title of the painting is “Trinity River Bottom Circus 1948”. The artist is referring to the Trinity River that runs through downtown Dallas, where the artist grew up in his early years. Even though he references the date of 1948, this painting was done in his later years and dated 2004.
The bright colors and primitive style add to the appeal of this odd subject. We love the muscle man with large hands and giant feet. This figure contrast nicely with the slender female with the long legs and the cute Pug at her feet. In the background you can see the fairgrounds with tents and a Ferris wheel.
This Nik Puspurica circus painting is a signed original painting by the artist. The artist signature and date, 20004, appear on the lower right. The title of the painting is written on the reverse in the artist hand. This artwork along with several others we have available, comes directly from the artist estate.
