This Texas Longhorn painting with its bold and bright colors, has a modern contemporary look. Titled “The Bull Stops Here”, this marvelous painting is by Santa Fe artist Barbara Meikle. The artist has used various painting techniques, which can be observed when viewed up close. This adds so much to the artwork and its presence. We especially love her use of the palette knife with the heavy medium paints. This gives a more lively appearance and definition to the face of the Bull.
The painting is dated 2012 making it almost 10 years old. Sadly during this time, the canvas was apparently damaged. It appears that something fell against the painting which resulted in a tear in the canvas. The painting was fully restored and so well done, you would never know by looking at it in person. Even upon close inspection, there is no hint of its past mishap. We have documented this by showing several photos of the front and back of the canvas. The conservator who did the restoration is unknown, but their adept work is exceptional. As such, this has impacted the value of the artwork, which has been priced at a significant discount.
This Texas Longhorn painting is an original oil on canvas painting. The artist signature, date and title of the painting are written on the reverse, in the artist hand. Her initials can also be found on the front lower right of the painting.
