This large two handled antique loving cup trophy from 1937 is beautifully engraved. What makes this trophy more unique than most, is for the subject of the award. The trophy was sponsored by Sharp & Dohme and was given for the “Best Professional Window Display” of a Pharmacy. The following is a full description.
TROPHY DETAILS
The Sharp and Dohme Trophy
Awarded By Pennsylvania Pharmacy Week Committee
To C. Roy Johnson’s Pharmacy
For The Best Professional Window Display in Pennsylvania
National Pharmacy Week 1937
Do you recognize the sponsor name Sharp & Dohme? They were a pharmaceutical company founded in 1891 in New York. Today they are better known as Merck & Company. The two companies merged in 1953 forming one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
The tall narrow shape and long extended handles add to the dramatic appearance of the trophy. It’s mounted on a large black bakelight base, adding even more height. All the elaborate antique engraving is beautifully done with curved text and flourishes.
With its larger size, this Antique Loving Cup Trophy 1937 presents well and would look great in any trophy collection. Do you need more than one?
