This McEwan’s Pale Ales pub mirror is in superb condition. As was common in the United Kingdom, the brewers loved to advertise their Ales and Stouts using these impressive and ornate mirrors. This one is no exception. The McEwan’s pub mirror is more rare than many of the other pub mirrors you see. And this example is truly stunning.
The large etched glass mirror plate has gold gilt and silver etched lettering and details. The lettering features gradiant reverse painted letterswith black drop shadows. The ornate Thistle design Trademark features the colorful Scottish flag and Union Jack flag. As you look along the bottom of the mirror you see a finely etched view of a pond or loch filled with Swans, butterflies and birds. We have never seen a pub mirror with a scene like this. The mirror has an etched outline and the top corners are embellished with large sprigs of Thistle, the national emblem of Scotland. The marvelous craftsmanship that went into making this pub mirror is stunning.
William McEwan & Company Ltd was a brewery founded in 1856 in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. In 1931 McEwan’s merged with William Youngers & Company to form Scottish Brewers Ltd.
This McEwan’s Pale Ales pub mirror is perfect for a bar, restaurant, gameroom or man cave. The dark stained wood frame is very well built and allows you to easily transport and display the mirror.
