This is a genuine Dairy Queen porcelain sign from the late 1940’s to early 1950’s. It was originally part of a double sided sign lit with neon. This is truly a great piece of Americana. Dairy Queen started in Joliet Illinois in 1940 and we believe this ice cream cone sign was one of the earlier versions created for the iconic restaurant chain.
This amazing porcelain sign stands almost 70″ tall and over 30″ wide. Its die cut shape of the traditional ice cream cone really makes this a stand out piece of advertising for sign collectors. Originally the ice cream had white neon around the edges and yellow neon outlineing the edges of the familiar cake cone, we all know and love.
This type of Dairy Queen porcelain sign is very scarce, as they were normally part of a large sign and were not die cut. The porcelain sign has been mounted to a new custom made can with an access panel on back, for placement of a transformer. We are selling the sign as shown, ready for neon and transformer. If you would like us to do this for you, we would be happy to do so for an additional amount.
