This Sealtest Ice Cream sign is an authentic sign from the 1940’s to 1950’s era. Sealtest dairy products were very popular and their trademark ice cream sign has been copied and reproduced for may years. This one is the real deal and most likely hung in front of a soda fountain shop or ice cream parlor.
The Sealtest brand name was established by National Dairies in 1934, when it changed the name of its ice cream from Tasty to Sealtest. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, Sealtest was mainly sold in drug stores, soda fountain shops, independent grocery stores and restaurants.
The Sealtest Ice Cream sign is a double sided metal sign in original condition. All the lettering is embossed and painted white, which stands out nicely against the red background. The two large hanging mounts are original to the sign. These types of hangers were used on flange mounted horizontal poles, often hanging over the storefront sidewalks.
