This handsome die-cut stand up ad is a Victory Cigar store display counter sign from the 1920’s era. The full color lithography was done by the Banes & Mayer Litho. Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The back has a fold-out easel-style stand to prop the sign up for display. These large antique and vintage cardboard counter top display signs are hard to find due to their use and fragile nature.
Collectors of Tobacciana will appreciate the condition and color of this Victory Cigar store display ad. It would look amazing framed and floated in a shadowbox. A perfect gift for the cigar aficionado.
The cigar maker, label name and design was owned by William Christian Frutiger & Company. He started in the cigar business in the early 1900’s in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The cigars were manufactured in Factory 417, which ran between 1920 and 1967. Victory was just one of some 15 brands manufactured by the company.
Note: The photos show the sign covered in clear plastic. It was previously shrink wrapped in plastic years ago to preserve its condition and lithography. This clear wrap is not original to the display sign.
