Titled The Apple Of My Eye, this Two-Piece oil on canvas painting is by artist Gary Schafter. It captures a bar scene in the moment, when something or someone catches your eye. The artwork consist of two paintings, one large painting depicting a bar scene and the smaller painting depicting a mirror reflection of the of the couple at the bar. That glance, that look, its all part of the theater of the scene. A scene that the artist portrayed with the look and drama of film noir.
The artist used two canvases on this artwork, which allows for the new owners own interpretation, with regards to their placement. They can be displayed side by side on the same wall as shown in the scale photo, or in a corner of a room, as we have shown in another photo. Placing them in the same room across from each other builds on the artist idea of the smaller painting being a mirror like reflection of the bar. You could also place them in two separate rooms, adding to the captured moment, when the viewers eye looks and recognizes they seen this before.
This piece is an early work by the Texas artist Gary Schafter, who painted it in 1985. Its a signed original oil on canvas, with the artist signature, date and title on the reverse.
