This cool nerdy looking guy is Galvan the Robot. His nickname is The Professor and obviously he is into Science, specifically Electrical Science. His top heavy body is made from a vintage Welch Scientific Galvanometer. On top, his antenna is made of a spiral shaped single copper wire mounted in a ceramic insulator. His arms are made of vintage Buss No.5 electrical fuses and his legs are early Burgess battery operated flashlights.
We can’t forget the obvious, the over-sized spectacles the professor needs to conduct his scientific experiments. This large set of glasses are actually part of a vintage Optical Phoropter. These emphasize the lighted bright blue LED eyes. There are also red LED lights embedded inside the Galvanometer gauge that flash off and on.
Galvan the Robot is another remarkable assemblage art piece from Van Dusen Designworks. Like other robots from this artistic team, each piece of this robot is made of vintage or found objects. These items were carefully selected and assembled to bring this robot sculpture to reality. Galvan comes with his very own embossed Minutemen Series Dog Tags showing his name, his nickname and the Van Dusen Designworks name.
Did you see the one-of-a-kind display base in the photos? This is also made of vintage materials and wired with long lasting LED lighting. Galvan looks sensational on this industrial style base. The base is not included with the robot, but can be purchased separately for $400.
