Touraid the robot AKA SKOOTER, is named after the vintage aluminum jack stand that makes up his body. This space age robot is a wonderful assemblage made from vintage and found objects. His head is a vintage 1950’s Holiday 8mm movie camera with a neck from a camera tripod head. The bright red handle allows you to adjust the camera head in various positions. You can have him look up, left, right or angled sideways like he’s sleeping. Inside the movie camera there is an LED light, which can be seen through the three various lenses on the front. He also has a pair of vintage headlights mounted on each side. All the lights are powered through a small transformer that plugs into any standard U.S. plug outlet.
The round black rubber bumper base is actually an authentic antique Soap Box Derby wheel. Then there are three metal transfer wheels mounted on the underside of the wheel. This allows you to roll and move Skooter around, if you wish to play with him. He also has a real working quartz movement clock mounted on the front, allowing him to be more than just a cool piece of art.
Touraid the robot is a funky robot sculpture by the creative duo at Van Dusen Designworks. Skooter as we like to call him, comes with his very own embossed Minutemen Series Dog Tags showing his name, his nickname and the Van Dusen Designworks name.
