Airman the robot AKA Knot, is a multipurpose robotic aircraft and hybrid scout used exploration and surveillance. He was designed as experimental light hybrid aircraft designed for reconnaissance, scouting, analyzing and scientific missions.
The Airman has three operational modes.
1) Containment Mode – Storage position with wings folded for transport, charging, maintenance and service.
2) Launch Ready Mode – Vertical position with head down and wings extended on launch platform. This is the default position for deployment and vertical take off.
3) Flight Mode – In full flight mode the Airman functions like a typical aircraft. His head is pivoted forward for navigation, allowing him to serve as a reconnaissance, exploration and scouting aircraft.
As a member of the elite Red Devil Squadron, each member is self contained within its own mobile hanger. The hanger comes complete with its own power source for electronics, spare parts and mobile launch platform.
Airman the robot was developed and produced by Van Dusen Designworks. This aviation inspired robot is a wonderful assemblage of vintage and found objects. He comes with his very own embossed Minutemen Series Dog Tags showing his name, nickname and the maker, Van Dusen Designworks.
