This wonderful mid century modern skyscraper sculpture was created by the American artist Lucile Driskell (1924-2017). We believe it was the first one from her TOWER series, from the 1970s. This cubist sculpture stands 75″ tall and is made of wood with some geometric sections painted in a faux finished orange with black edges. The other sections are painted all black with acid etched brass plates on each side. These brass panels, six in total, have an abstract brutalist look and finish, similar to some furniture made during this era. The black edges contrast nicely with the orange and brass, making the tall sculpture very striking and adding to its distinct appearance. The black wood base is original and part of the actual sculpture.
This mid century modern skyscraper sculpture is a one-of-a-kind sculpture. The artist signature “Driskell” can be found on the underside of the base. The sculpture appears to be all original and in very good condition. See full condition description below.
