This is a large pair of antique carousel medallions or shields, used to decorate Merry-Go-Rounds and Carousels. The center molding is made of cast metal with the makers name in embossed lettering. They read King Amusement Co., Mt. Clemens, Mich., a well known manufacturer of Carnival, Circus and Arcade rides and games.
These colorful pieces of carnival memorabilia can be used in a variety of ways. As a pair, these wonderful artifacts with their bright carnival colors, would make a striking pair of lighted wall sconces. There mitered design would allow lighting to project out of the top and bottom of the medallion, creating a distinct light pattern on the wall.
