This elaborate Chinese bronze fan-shaped artifact is truly extraordinary. It is referred to as a Temple Standard and is made of cast and hand worked bronze. The fan-shaped design is ornately chased with wonderful figures and symbols from one of the oldest cultures in the world. The center features a scroll with three Chinese characters we believe to be referencing a Temple. Above the banner is a pair of large four-clawed dragons amidst the clouds. The dragons are facing a flaming pearl, which represents wisdom, harmony and prosperity. All of this sits above a single upturned Chinese Carp fish in water.
The fan-shaped form is framed with a raised edge border filled with scrolling foliage. The lower edge is held in the mouth of a fierce dragon head, emerging from a faceted baluster-shaped shaft. The shaft at the base of the Dragon has some losses around the edge. See photos for more info.

CONDITION: Extremely nice antique condition with very minor wear and losses commensurate with age and use. The different patina at the center top of the fan may indicate a missing piece. At the base of the Dragon there is some losses around the edge as shown in the photos.
