This lovely handblown Italian Murano Glass torso vase is from the 1980’s. The shapely sculptural vase was artfully crafted using the Sommerso glass technique. Made of red and black stripes, the female form has a white interior and is completely encased in clear glass. This makes the art glass vase very heavy. The bold colors have a tiger stripe appearance which adds to the curve and shape of the female body.
Although this was handmade as a vase, it appears to have never been used as such. As a decorative piece of art glass it is very striking. Perfect on a table top or displayed as sculpture on a pedestal. I have also seen one of these used as a base for a table lamp.
