This amazing organic wood sculpture is by British artist Steve Howlett. The abstract form was achieved by taking a trimmed block of holly wood and turning it on a lathe through a series of careful steps and lots of time. Some pieces can take several weeks before he can complete their unique abstract form. This piece with its rich color and spectacular wood grain has an elegant and sensual appearance. The artist monogram can be found on the inside of the piece as shown in the photo.
This Steve Howlett organic wood sculpture is a superb example of his craftsmanship and skill as an artist. Mr Howlett’s work can be found in many private collections as well as museum collections like the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Hosomi Museum in Kyoto, Japan.
